Beading venture links four ardent crafters

Detroiters Annette Martin, Denise Germany and Brenda Wilson, along with Livonia resident Linda Roberts, represent the close bonding that can occur between crafters who share a common interest.
Martin and Roberts met last year while on a trip to New York. That's when they discovered each made beaded jewelry.

WESTLAND (WXYZ) - Sgt Romanowski VFW post 6896 in Westland hardly looks like the headquarters for a Mexican food empire. But it will be if Patrick Schwager gets his way.
Schwager is the driving business force behind what used to be his mother's salsa sideline. Lydia Alcala Schwager, who grew up in a large Mexican-American family would mix up batches of salsa and take them to parties.

At the southwest corner of Detroit's Eastern Market, you'll find an ordinary looking block of commercial buildings, storefronts and parking meters. Although home to recognizable city sights like the old Atlas Furniture building and Discount Candles, this Gratiot block, framed by Riopelle and Russell, shows little life.

In another foodie victory for a potato chips kind of town, Randy's Granola has relocated to Detroit from the west side of the state. So far they've brought over administrative operations only -- the hand-crafted, all-natural, gluten free, vegan whole grain product is still made Grand Rapids.

Obviously there are major issues to be dealt with but for those with an idea and the drive to realize it there isn't a better place to be in the United States right now.
